The Hide Out! Retreat is
in the centre of a very Beautiful,
culturally rich and diverse land.
To the North is Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in |
the
world. It lies on the Sikkim / Nepal border
and stands, towering above the jungle clad
foothills at 8586m.
Below the Himalayas are
wild rocky peaks and then the start of jungles and dense

rhododendron forest. Our
area has the highest number of rhododendron varieties
found in Nepal. During the months of March and April
they flower covering whole hillside with reds & pinks.
The jungles are also home to many animals including
Barking Deer, Yellow Throated Martin, Bears, Leopards,
Blue Sheep, red Panda and many bird species. The
indigenous people of the area are the Limbu, they are mostly
farmers but many of them join and serve in the British Gurkha Regiments. |
